Description We are seeking an Authorizations Coordinator to join our team in Oakland, California. In this role, you will be supporting our Utilization Management department by securing inpatient authorizations from insurance companies and ensuring timely notifications of patient admissions. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity and requires a high level of coordination between the hospital and insurers.Responsibilities: Secure inpatient authorizations from various insurance providers Ensure timely notifications of patient admissions via fax Utilize various payer portals for accessing and using insurance information, including Medicare and Medi-Cal Maintain a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Exhibit excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with various stakeholders Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Utilization Management applications, such as EPIC or 3M Adhere to code of conduct, demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to receive feedback. Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook Familiarity with medical coverage and insurance companies, including Medicare and Medi-Cal Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites Experience with authorizations in a healthcare setting Knowledge of R Code and its applications in healthcare Strong coordination skills and experience in case management Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Previous experience using Epic Software in a healthcare setting Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations Experience with notifications and fax in a healthcare environment Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems Comfortable using various healthcare portals Experience in an inpatient healthcare setting Knowledge of EHR systems Understanding of health plan operations.
