Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in the finance department, responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; preparing and analyzing budgets; and performing general bookkeeping. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly closing processes.

Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records.

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

Meet processing and reporting deadlines.

Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.

Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

Liaise with external auditors and manage the audit process.

Assist with tax preparation, filing, and reporting as required.

Evaluate financial operations to recommend best-practices, identify issues and strategize solutions, and help implement changes.

Support accounts payable and receivable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with accounting software and databases.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
