Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with a desire to join a reputable company in the Construction/Contractor industry. Key parts of the role include preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, creating budgets and forecasts, preparing audits, and managing internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for working in fast-paced environments are musts. This Senior Accountant role is located in Pleasanton, California within the Construction/Contractor field. In addition to excellent compensation and benefits, the company offers the opportunity to advance.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the feasibility land acquisition process by reviewing and analyzing models to support the Land and Finance teams

Direct and supervise the Accounting Department to include Accounts Payable, Subcontractor Payables, Payroll, Housing Receivables, job cost and general ledger accounting to ensure adherence with generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls and company policies and procedures

Direct and supervise the Finance department in preparing the annual Departmental Operating Budgets, Housing Budget, Capital Asset Budget, Land Development Budget and Cash Flow Budget

Direct and supervise the Finance department in preparing financial forecasts of projected revenue and profit in conjunction with financial analysis of budget vs. actual operating results

Direct and supervise the Finance department in meeting all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements of internal and external users

Direct and oversee the preparation of Personal Property, Sales and Use, and Real Estate Tax returns.

Design, implement and support procedures that will assure compliance with corporate policies

Work with and provide financial information to internal and external auditors and respond to audit report, as required

Approve expenditures and invoices within established company guidelines

Work with department managers to ensure consistent application of general ledger accounting and cost coding

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES LEVEL: MENTOR / COACH / FEEDBACK With Direct Reports:

Ensures appropriate staffing to meet department needs

Utilizes recruiting and selection tools/processes to build organizational talent Delegates work according to employee's abilities and skills

Evaluates employee's performance and plans for compensation actions in accordance with that performance

Provides developmental opportunities through identification of internal and external training opportunities

Creates opportunities for employee growth

Provides continuous coaching with regard to functional and leadership standards (technical skills and behaviors)

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION: (degree, licenses, certifications, etc.)

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting (or equivalent in related field)

Certified Public Accounting license (active or inactive) or MBA preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (work related, tools/equipment, software, etc.)

Related Functional Experience: Minimum 3 years public and/or corporate accounting experience

Strong analytical skills

Good knowledge of GAAP and financial reports

Strong verbal and written communication skills
