A host/hostess manages a restaurant's initial guest experience by greeting customers, seating them, handling reservations, and answering phones. Key duties include managing the waitlist, coordinating with servers on table assignments, maintaining a clean front-of-house area, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Interaction:
Warmly greet guests upon arrival, answer questions, and provide a positive first impression.
- Reservations and Waitlist:
Manage reservation bookings, maintain a waitlist, and provide accurate wait times.
- Seating Management:
Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and assign them to server sections.
- Front-of-House Operations:
Monitor the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and dining room.
- Coordination:
Communicate with servers about seating arrangements, table availability, and customer requests.
- Communication:
Handle multiple incoming phone calls at the same time and address customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
