Description We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for an Insurance Specialist for a healthcare organization, located in San Diego, California. The main function of this role is to ensure accurate and timely verification of insurance benefits and treatment authorizations for patients. This involves frequent communication with insurance companies and patients, managing treatment authorizations, and maintaining detailed records of insurance verification activities.Responsibilities: Verify patients' insurance coverage by contacting insurance companies via various channels. Document and update patient records with accurate insurance information and coverage details. Submit and manage treatment authorizations to insurance companies. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities. Educate patients on their insurance benefits, including copayments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses. Address patients' inquiries and concerns regarding insurance coverage and billing. Collaborate with medical billing staff to ensure accurate billing based on verified insurance information. Work closely with healthcare providers and other administrative staff to facilitate a smooth patient experience. Maintain detailed records of insurance verification activities, adhering to internal policies regarding patient confidentiality. Identify and resolve insurance-related issues, such as discrepancies in coverage or authorization denials.Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience in answering inbound and outbound calls. Strong customer service skills. Demonstrated ability in data entry and email correspondence. Ability to schedule appointments efficiently. Familiarity with handling administrative tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work. Strong organizational and time management skills. Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems. TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive hazardous material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations Qualifications: A total of 4 years consisting of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE Three years experience in administrative merchandising technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a general knowledge of operational and procurement practices skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor s degree for 3 years of general experience. Substitution of 1 year for 1 year in those instances where co-op experience is required if a student was part of the program of study. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of responsible experience which provided a background in merchandising controls inventory stock record keeping and reports maintenance of equipment merchandise display customer relations exempt or non-exempt supervisory experience or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities of the functional area.
