DescriptionAmazon seeks a Finance Manager to join the XCM (Cross-Channel Marketing) Finance team. XCM is Amazon’s largest Fixed Marketing team, with a vision to be the most culturally and contextually aware, creatively breakthrough, and effective marketing organization in the world. XCM has produced some of Amazon’s most recognised TV, Radio, Print and Out of Home advertising, including Amazon’s annual Holiday and Superbowl advertisements! We want you to come and be a part of making these happen!The XCM team owns the execution of Amazon’s global mass marketing and branding campaigns to strengthen the Amazon brand, surprise and delight our customers, whilst also reducing the overall cost of Amazon’s marketing efforts. The XCM Finance team works hand in hand with our XCM business partners to provide the financial and analytical insights to achieve these objectives. This role will work directly with marketing managers and leadership to form balanced marketing portfolios based on effective measurement and efficient financial return. In this role you will work directly with experienced marketing leaders to make informed decisions and financial trade-offs on how and where Amazon markets our products and services to customers. You will get the unique opportunity to influence marketing decisions and gain exposure to many other Amazon teams / business units through your partnership with marketing and measurement teams.The successful candidate will be passionate about numbers and influencing people. They will be analytical, detail oriented, data driven, and be able to effectively partner with stakeholders in other Finance, Marketing and Measurement teams. We are looking for someone who is highly analytical, resourceful, customer focused, team oriented, and has the ability to work independently under time constraints. Candidates will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to earn trust with others, and experience of working in matrixed organizations.Key job responsibilitiesYou see your primary role as being a conduit between senior Marketing and Finance leaders, marketing measurement science, and the marketing managers who get Amazon’s campaigns in front of customers. Whilst focused on supporting an individual region, you contribute to wider WW Marketing projects and topics. Your key responsibilities are:

Managing business and financial reviews with senior leadership.

Presenting financial analysis and insights to senior management on financial trends, drivers of marketing efficiency and recommendations for changes to future marketing strategy.

Owning the annual and quarterly planning process for over $500MM annualized marketing investments.

Working with others to develop and refine mental models and frameworks to best achieve Amazon’s Marketing goals.

Partnering with marketing measurement science and product teams to evaluate and report the attributed impact of mass marketing investments on financial results and brand perception.

Identifying Finance process improvement and mechanization opportunities and drive incremental progress in the way your team approaches key areas of ownership.

Giving back to the wider Marketing Finance community though work on one or a number of projects (e.g. building scalable marketing reporting, or owning the construction of new headline reporting KPIs).

Providing education on Marketing concepts and frameworks to others, as well as training others in our customer facing reporting as new team members onboard.

A day in the lifeExample activities from a typical day in this role would include:

Discussing measurement techniques with the Campaign Measurement & Optimization data science team, and debating how we can best articulate the Financial benefits that result from our marketing activities to senior stakeholders.

Speaking to senior Finance stakeholders in the UK (for example) on upcoming changes to the framework which determines which marketing campaigns should be prioritized in the upcoming round of budgeting.

Supporting the XCM team on a S-Team goal around (e.g.) the use of generative AI in Marketing (and the resulting financial benefits).

Going deep into the potential impact to Amazon’s top line performance of moving budget from Online video advertising to TV advertising in the next financial guidance cycle.

Going for lunch with your Marketing Finance team mates, and discussing who was the best performer at the recent social event.

Helping the XCM Data Insights team refine their new reporting dashboard with the feedback you have received from global partners.

Coaching new hires in the Marketing Finance team on how perception lifts are measured using the Amazon wide wiki you have built over the last three months.

Spending some time finalizing the draft of the focus topic you own in the monthly finance review meeting at the end of the week.

A 1:2:1 with the Director in charge of EU XCM to update them on initial month end results.

Joining a LiFT (Learning in Finance Together) peer learning event for Finance Analysts, focused on improving your coaching skills.

5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

MBA, or CPA

Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel

Proven ability to build trust and influence decision making through effective verbal and written communication
