Description Our client, an established and growing construction company in San Diego, CA, is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Generalist to join their team! In this role, you’ll play a vital part in shaping the company’s people strategies and fostering a positive workplace culture.Key Responsibilities:
Administer all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, benefits administration, and employee engagement.
Act as the first point of contact for employee relations, providing guidance on policies, resolving workplace issues, and supporting a positive company culture.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including prevailing wage regulations specific to the construction industry.
Support performance management processes, including conducting reviews, drafting improvement plans, and coordinating employee development programs.
Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS system and prepare reports to assist with workforce planning.
Partner with leadership to ensure HR processes and policies align with company goals and support workforce retention and growth.
Collaborate with managers to develop strategies for recruiting and retaining top talent in the competitive construction labor market.
Design and implement initiatives to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workforce.
Requirements
3-5 years of HR experience, ideally in the construction, manufacturing, or other hands-on industries.
Strong knowledge of California labor laws, OSHA compliance, workers’ compensation, and other HR regulations specific to the construction industry.
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom) and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with union and non-union workforces is a plus.
