This position is remote / work from home with the requirement that at times the person in this role will need to work onsite in San Diego for onsite support for scheduled CME activities and/or meetings.What You Will Do as a Lead CME Association (Continuing Medical Education)Under the direction of the CME (Continuing Medical Education)Director, provide oversight and leadership to the CME team as they strategically plan, develop, and implement activities which affect the delivery of exemplary continuing medical education to Sharp-affiliated physicians and pharmacists. Develop and monitor staff schedules, performance, and work load. Assess plans and procedures for measuring the value (quality and cost) of continuing medical education activities.Required QualificationsAbility to attend meetings and offer onsite support in San Diego County.

Bachelor's Degree required.

3 years of relevant CME experience required (Continuing Medical Education)

Experienced with leading day-to-day operations of a CME team.

Experienced with presenting, negotiating and communicating effectively with physician and pharmacy leadership, physicians, pharmacists, and individuals from a wide variety of positions and levels throughout the organization.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree MPH, MA or MBA .

4 Years experience as a CME/CPE Associate in a nationally accredited institution (e.g., ACCME, ACPE).

Other Qualification RequirementsCertification for CME Professionals (CHCP) preferred.

Essential FunctionsLeadershipProvide oversight and leadership to the CME team as they strategically plan, develop, and implement activities.Develop and monitor staff schedules, performance including annual performance appraisals, and work load.Assess plans and procedures for measuring the value (quality and cost) of continuing medical education activities.Assess and review plans and procedures for measuring the value of continuing medical education activities.

Program accreditationResponsible for compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education's (ACCME) Essential Areas and Elements and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education's (ACPE) Accreditation Standards for all CME/CPE activities certified by Sharp HealthCare.Responsible for compliance with Sharp HealthCare's CME/CPE mission statement to include all the basic components (CME purpose, content areas, target audience, types of activities, expected results) with expected results articulated in terms of changes in competence, performance, or patient outcomes that will be the result of the overall program.

Program developmentPlanning: Identifies educational needs that underlie the professional practice gaps of the learners; generates activities designed to change competence, performance, or patient outcomes; generates activities around content that matches the learners current or potential scope of practice; influences the scope and content of activities/educational interventions; chooses educational formats that are appropriate for the setting, objectives and desired results (e.g. performance improvement, committee learning, Internet learning); develops activities in the context of desirable physician attributes; and develops activities independent of commercial interests.Course Director/Planning Committee/Faculty: Facilitates and communicates with course director/planning committee as appropriate on any aspect of the activity; identifies and invites faculty; negotiates honoraria and appropriate travel arrangements; communicates effectively and efficiently with conference faculty to execute correct nomenclature, credentials, audio visuals, honorarium, travel, lodging and expense reimbursement, CME/CPE conflict of interest disclosure, and syllabus entry; and develops and analyses compilation of the evaluation tools.Venue Assessment, Selection, Contract Negotiations and On-site Logistics: Identify specific conference needs in regard to timing, facility availability, meeting space, sleeping rooms, rates and amenities; identifies all potential venues; books appropriate meeting space, negotiates contract details; and identifies accurate food and beverage services.Marketing: Manages all aspects of creative and affordable marketing; upholds Sharp's corporate branding guidelines; and maintains consistent conference identity and branding.Registration: Manages the registration process and onsite attendee registration desk.Data Entry: Manages entry and compilation of data for routine and ad hoc reports, utilizing databases or statistical/spreadsheet software.Budgets: Manages budgets for educational activities; ensuring final budgets are within projected budget.

Strategic planningIdentify, plan and implement the needed or desired changes in the overall program (e.g., stakeholders, faculty, infrastructure, methods, resources, facilities, interventions).Operate in a manner that integrates CME/CPE into the process of improving professional practice.Utilize non-education strategies to enhance change as an adjunct to activities/educational interventions.Identify factors outside CME/CPEs control that impact on patient outcomes.Implement educational strategies to remove, overcome or address barriers to physician change.Build bridges with Sharp and non-Sharp stakeholders through collaboration and cooperation.Participate within an institutional or system framework for quality improvement (e.g., Entity CME Committees, General Med Staff Meeting).Deliver formal presentations to audiences internal and/or external to Sharp.Maintain a leadership role in national/international CME/CPE through membership and participation with ACCME, ACPE, and Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEHP).

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProficient in management and organization principles; adult learning principles, medical terminology, JCAHO, and NCQA requirements and quality standards; ACCME Essential Areas and Elements; ACPE Accreditation Standards; medical staff quality management systems and physician attributes; Lean Six Sigma Methodology; the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical guidelines; research principles and methodologies; current matters relating to and impacting health care.
