As a Medical Assistant, you will have substantial autonomy, serving as a critical asset to the Scripps Cancer Center.
You will act as the primary point of contact, providing essential support and continuity as new nurses and doctors arrive daily to address various types of cancer.
Your role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of the center and ensuring a consistent and effective patient care experience.
Your job duties:
Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
Collecting patient data in person and by phone
Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
Perform blood draws
Scheduling of appointments and procedures
Complete and accurate message taking
Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographicsRequired Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred.
