The small team of coordinators work together and with Physicians to follow the Scripps credentialing process and follow regulations and meet deadlines.The Medical Staff Coordinator provides administrative and organizational support to the Medical Staff Department and to the medical staff leadership. The coordinator is also responsible for the following:

Coordinates, on behalf of the medical staff organization the development, if applicable and/or revisions of their bylaws, rules and regulations, policies/procedures, and privileging criteria.

Establishes and maintains systems to ensure timely processing of credentialing practices, which may include initial appointments and/or reappointments.

Supports medical staff leadership in conducting their meeting(s) management, and review(s) of credentialing files, peer review, and review(s) of OPPE (ongoing professional practice evaluations) and FPPE (focused professional practice evaluations) including proctoring.

Maintains responsibility and accountability of assigned medical staff sections/departments/committees and their relationship with the medical staff organization in fulfilling compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.

This is a Full-time, Day Shift position located at our Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla campus, with general hours of 8am – 4:30pm (hours may vary). This position has a partial remote schedule once training is complete.Required Qualifications:

3 years of relevant experience in Medical Staff Administration or successful completion of an ABA approved post-graduate paralegal program which includes hospital internship experience and focus in the area of medical staff law.

Knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory accreditation standards related to the medical staff organization.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Proficient computer skills including MS Office.

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and responsibilities.

Able to work with customers effectively in a sensitive and confidential environment.

Required Certification/Registration:

Current CPMSM (Certified Provider of Medical Staff Management) or CPCS (Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services. If not currently certified must obtain certification within 4 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.

Experience using medical staff related software programs, such as MDSTAFF databases.
