Participate as a member of our design team for a new utility control center and other utility projects
Perform design engineering for routed and switch telecom networks for new control center application. This will include creating network diagrams, identifying needed infrastructure components, developing equipment configurations including network diagrams, schematic diagrams, and rack elevations
Support design team in the selection of network and telecom equipment including card level options for transport, routing, channel banks, terminal servers, HF and VHF radios, etc.
Support identification of cables for use by network and telecom devices
Lead the development of bills of material (BOM) for network and telecom systems in sophisticated Excel spreadsheet workbook
Request and record vendor price quotes and assist in buildup of full BOM costs
Develop electrical power and heat load calculations for all equipment and equipment racks
Support the procurement, integration and staging of all Telecom equipment
Support integration and checkout of equipment using telecom and network test equipment when required
Maintain equipment inventories and tracking
Develop kitting approach for shipment of preconfigured racks
Perform project material cost estimates, estimate to complete, and estimate at completion as part of the project management team
Support and conduct site walks, site surveys, and field installation and test activities.
What Sets You Apart: (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline with eight plus (8+) years of relevant experience. May consider more years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Extensive experience with MS Excel required
US citizen required and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance/Background check.
You Might Also Have: (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with configuration and procurement of network and transport equipment including routers, switches, channel banks. Experienced in the installation and configuration of telecom and network equipment.
Experience in Microsoft Excel to develop complex spreadsheets and Visio to develop various network drawings and block diagrams
Knowledge and experience with network and/or telecom test equipment such line testers, BER test sets, OTDRs, protocol analyzers, Wireshark network monitor tool and power level meters.
CCNA certification
