Job Goals: The Saint-Gobain Solar Gard Process Engineer II develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This candidate will be required to provide engineering support to the different areas (mixing, coating, laminating, metalizing and slitting) as well as R&D for the development of future products and processes. The Process Engineer II will be a key contributor for optimizing all the steps in the thin film manufacturing process. This individual will prepare and gather all the related information for new product launches, including but not limited to: formulation, mixing, sputtering, coating and slitting settings. Essential Responsibilities of the Position (includes the following; other responsibilities may be assigned): Work in a manufacturing clean room environment, having a clear understanding of the requirements for Class 10,000 and Class 1,000.

Determine statistical process capabilities (Cpk>1.33) and implement changes designed to improve consistency, product yield, quality, and throughput rates.

Perform process analysis (Lean or 6 s ) in order to define cost reduction initiatives.

Manage the financial aspects of the production process, reviewing cost variances and performing root cause analysis to identify the variance and prevent it from re-occurring.

Manage and update BOM’s to reflect the correct material usage.

Recommend or assists in the development of new process equipment or upgrades for current equipment.

Set-up new processes, run production and pilot trials for new product developments together with R&D.

Compiles technical data and other key process information to determine equipment/process specifications and establishes baselines.

Identifies safety, cost and quality opportunities.

Develops solutions for corrective/preventive actions.

Participates/leads in multi-functional teams to resolve problems, improve processes or procedures where appropriate.

Builds relations with internal customers, creating and reinforcing a team environment.

Drives continuous improvement initiatives contributing to the short, mid and long term efficiency and cost improvement.

Responsible for training other Engineers, Operations and Quality personnel in all the new products or changes being introduced.

Able to travel as needed, domestic and international.

Essential Requirements for the Position:

BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Material Science.

Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing Certification.

Minimum of (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a product/process development role, preferably in an ISO-9000, TS-16949 or CGMP environment.

3+ years of experience on mixing, coating, drying, metalizing and slitting processes.

2+ years of experience applying lean manufacturing principles.

2+ years of experience in NPI or NPD.

Excellent interpersonal and problem solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and multi-disciplinary team environment.

Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Able to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Utilizing a systematic approach for problem solving.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).

Able to write basic programming codes and able to handle and manage large amount of data.

Experience with inline sensors and web inspection is a plus

Experience with system integration in the context of industry 4.0 is a plus.

Manage financial aspects of major project teams including estimating expenditures, identifying financial alternatives, contributing to the creation of capital requests, purchasing materials and/or services, monitoring and tracking costs.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations including conversions, weights, measurements, volume and distance along with statistical abilities.

Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Supportive of the WCM activities and achieving WCM Green Belt.

Apply technical specialty to business opportunities to optimize project management and capital expenditures.

Able to create and manipulate drawings in Auto-CAD or Solid Works is a plus.
