Senior User (UX) Researcher.


Candidate must be authorized to work in USA without requiring sponsorship



Location: West Coast

Duration: 6 months, temp-to-hire


Notes:
  • Need to be flexible to work anytime between 8:00am PT - 9:30pm PT.
  • Candidate must include Case Studies they’ve worked on in the past and why they used that method for that study.
  • Strong online portfolio demonstrating UCD (User Centered Design) and research case studies.


Description:
  • Responsible for applying design thinking and user-centered methodologies to deliver an end-to-end user experience that meets user needs and solves user problems, in line with business goals.
  • Provide customer insights in relation to users’ goals, behaviors, attitudes, pain points/challenges, thereby defining who our users are through a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Work with business partners and product teams to identify research topics and user problems, in addition to testing design concepts and solutions for products and services.
  • Conduct early exploratory research to identify user problems and validate concepts/solutions. Perform rapid qualitative user testing of prototypes.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and analysis of formal, remote and in-person user testing (including FDA requirements) and research post-release.
  • Identify user pain points, mental states, and changes in emotion in the customer journey to drive improving the user experience; clearly articulate user needs.
  • Conduct field studies, contextual interviews, A/B testing, card sorting competitive analysis, surveys, focus groups, and other types of attitudinal and behavioral research.
  • Analyze quantitative data and web analytics. Develop affinity maps, empathy maps, research summaries and formal reports/presentations. Co-create and maintain personas.
  • Write effective user testing plans to gain customer insights, writes scripts and user tasks for testing; develop success criteria, analyze results, provide actionable recommendations.
  • Recruit research participants. Maintain user research guidelines and research calendar. Collaborate on customer journey maps.

  • Develop user empathy and advocate for the user, understanding the user’s behavior, attitudes, and emotions.
  • Participate in whiteboarding, design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate effectively with designers, product management, engineering, front-end development, industrial designers, and Market Research to ideate solutions to user problems and iterate on designs.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum BA/BS in Product Design, HCI/Cognitive Science, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience researching web products and mobile apps (Android and iOS) in an agile, fast-paced and collaborative environment alongside design, engineering and product management.
  • Experience leading quantitative and qualitative research such as usability testing, concept testing/exploratory research, ethnography, diary studies, contextual inquiry/interviews, surveys, card sorting, visual mapping, etc.
  • Significant experience moderating interviews and testing to dig deep and understand user motivations, values, and needs.
  • Effective problem-solver, communicator, presenter, and negotiator. Ability to manage multiple and complex projects in a timely manner.
  • Proven track record in delivering delightful and easy-to-use products and services based on user needs and research.
  • Experience with the healthcare field and medical devices a plus.
  • Strong online portfolio demonstrating case studies and user research of web design/mobile app products.
  • Moderating usability skills is important and doing contextual interviews. Prefer Cognitive Science background.
  • Up to 15% travel.
