Staff Accountant

Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to be part of our team in San Diego, California. The successful candidate will be central to our finance operations, managing various accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. This role also involves working with QuickBooks and NetSuite, and requires a strong understanding of Grant Accounting.Responsibilities: Oversee daily bookkeeping and accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliations using QuickBooks. Manage Grant accounting processes ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial reports and meticulous tracking of fund allocation. Implement and assist in the development of accounting policies. Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. Work closely with the Senior Accountant, providing necessary financial reports and accounts information. Maintain accurate customer credit records. Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate actions when necessary. Assist with month-end close procedures, including the preparation of journal entries and general ledger accounts. Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently. Requirements Possess at least two years of experience in the field of accounting Proficiency in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Capable of performing Bank Reconciliations accurately Experience with maintaining General Ledger and making Journal Entries Familiarity with Month End Close process Proficiency in using NetSuite and QuickBooks software Experience in Grant Accounting is preferred Ability to work independently and with a team Excellent communication and organizational skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required CPA certification is a plus Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Familiarity with financial regulations and accounting principles Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
