The Bier Garden in Encinitas is looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager. Candidate should have the following skills:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the General Manager (GM), the Assistant General Manager (AGM) will be responsible for providing a favorable image of our restaurant and will provide quality products and services to each guest. The AGM will manage shifts which include: daily decision making, staff scheduling, planning while upholding standards, and restaurant cleanliness. Will also provide direction to employees regarding operations and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with the restaurant's policies and procedures.

Ensures that all guests feel welcome and are given attentive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.

Adheres to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.

Participates in interviews and selection of new crew.

Conducts orientation, explains the restaurant's philosophy, and oversees the training of new employees.

Develops employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.

Prepares schedules and ensures that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts.

Makes labor management decisions each shift.

Will promptly and fully inform the GM of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and will take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.

Inventory, ordering, and COGS responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel).

Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.

REQUIREMENTS

Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.

Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.

Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.

Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to issues.

Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily activities.

Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
