Job Description: Vintage Audio Service Technician
Starting Wage: $25 to $35 per hour.
CANDIDATES REQUIREMENTS
[1] Extensive knowledge of home audio gear, including
stereo receivers, turntables, tape recorders, CD players,
old radios, and speaker systems.
[2] Both electronic and mechanical expertise.
[3] Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams.
[4] Journeyman-level soldering skills.
[5] Know-how regarding oscilloscopes, digital multimeters,
signal generators, and capacitor testers.
[6] Excellent soldering skills.
[7] Familiarity with both solid-state and tube amplifiers.
You will know how to troubleshoot and repair electronic
malfunctions, including failures of power supplies, power
amplifiers, and noisy preamps.
You will know how to troubleshoot and repair
mechanical malfunctions, including gummed-up gears
and slides, idler wheels, and speaker surrounds.
You will know how to use a computer to locate
hard-to-find parts, such as obsolete laser pickups.
Bi-lingual is a plus (30% of our customers are Latinos)
