Payroll Specialist

Description We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team in San Francisco, California. In this role, you'll be tasked with handling both payroll and accounting duties, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our team. Your responsibilities will include maintaining payroll records, verifying payroll entries, and handling customer inquiries related to payroll. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Efficiently process payroll for 80 employees using Paycom and QuickBooks Online. Perform reconciliation and posting of semi-monthly payroll entries to the general ledger. Ensure the accuracy of journal entries for labor distribution, PTO accruals, workers' compensation, and other benefits. Download and maintain all payroll related finance reports. Prepare and maintain payroll reports for billing and address any discrepancies between payroll records and the general ledger. Review, record, and follow up on all manual payroll checks. Balance health insurance monthly premiums and flex benefit plan deductions and contributions with Paycom. Maintain records and eligibility for 403b match. Perform quarterly reconciliation of all payroll-related balance sheet accounts. Implement process improvement to streamline GL data entry from Paycom to Sage Intacct. Serve as a backup to Senior Accountant when necessary and prepare ad hoc reports as requested. Requirements A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Payroll Specialist role or similar Proficient in Quickbooks Online and Paycom Demonstrable experience in full-cycle payroll Experience in managing payroll for under 100 employees Ability to post journal entries accurately and efficiently Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with employees regarding payroll issues Advanced problem-solving capabilities for resolving payroll discrepancies Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations.
