General Description:The Principal Physical Security Specialist works in conjunction with the Director of Global Protection, the Head of Global Physical Security and others, to assist in executing and managing a Best-in-Class Safety & Security Program at BeiGene. The Specialist will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and will execute and manage security and safety at Company offices, assist with security monitoring systems, and support executives and staff during business events, research and monitor protective intelligence systems and make and implement decisions based on mitigating risk.The Specialist will be a self-starter, independent thinker and decision maker, and peer-leader of others. The Specialist will foster trust, confidence, and followership across the enterprise and be dedicated to the principal of integrity and ethical behavior. There may be travel while accompanying staff on domestic and international trips, and may occasionally require long, irregular, and demanding hours.The Principal Physical Security Specialist must be experienced and skilled in security and risk mitigation in a way that is professional, courteous, and in compliance with best security practices. In addition, the candidate must be capable of researching and documenting security assessments of sites, residences, and events to ensure thorough, efficient, and proportionate, threat-based security measures.The Specialist will also assist in the execution and management of physical security programs such as meeting and event security, open-source intelligence, threat and risk identification and mitigation, among others. The candidate must possess peer-leadership qualities, technical strengths, and communication skills that generate confidence. Provide safety and security coverage for staff, events, and offices.
Conduct advance preparations and security assessments of sites, residences, and events to ensure thorough, efficient, and proportionate, threat-based security measures.
Perform vehicle transportation duties as a part of security organization.
Assist with overseeing and managing contract security at Company offices.
Provide Security Technology support in offices and Company facilities.
Assist with monthly audit and report writing.
Conduct independent assessments of situations and provide real-time decisions to ensure the safety and security of others.
Perform risk assessment and threat mitigation, throughout facilities, residences, airfields, off-site events, hotels, and ground and air transportation, and travel.
Perform travel-related risk assessments in foreign and domestic environments, identifying and establishing rapport with key law enforcement, security, and government officials as needed.
Partner with internal teams on the planning and logistics around Company-sponsored events to ensure security matters and executive participation.
Provide verbal and/or written briefings in one-on-one meetings, or to large groups of associates, traveling to high risk rated areas.
Manage and/or directly participate in the development and implementation of security plans in support of company special events.
Research and write reports utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite for risk assessments of Company events and executive travel and maintain a database of all reports.
Regularly research and review pertinent data from intelligence reports from open source, and third-party providers regarding the threat environment and to evaluate corporate and executive risk.
Develop expertise with Open Source and subscription tools to monitor world events and assess impact to Company, offices/facilities, senior executives, and staff.
Develop strong working relationship with all levels of management.
Act upon and communicate vulnerabilities or safety concerns in a timely manner.
Maintain proficiency in relevant protective services training as well as maintain currency on protection and emergency medical certifications.
Create and maintain strong positive relationships with key internal partners, including executive leadership, functional business areas, and site leadership. Be on call to respond to company-related security incidents and to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.
7+ years’ experience in Safety & Security, Executive Protection, Close Protection, Military, Law Enforcement, or Corporate Security, in both complex and benign environments.
Graduate of an industry recognized Executive Protection Course a plus.
3+ years' experience with security technology systems (e.g. CCTV and Access Management systems).
Fluency in both verbal and written English; competency in any other major language would be a benefit.
Other Qualifications:
Experience with access management audit reporting and regulatory requirements.
Current CPR/AED, and First Aid and current California BSIS “Guard Card”, and plus.
Advanced certifications a plus: e.g.: EMT or Advanced First Aid, CPP, PSP, LEOSA.
Highly developed driving skills and exceptional driving record.
Highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to maintain composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
Ability to work independently to implement and maintain security requirements.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Business applications.
Other Qualifications: The ability to give well-articulated presentations to all levels of BeiGene employees and remain calm and provide guidance in a crisis.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends as required.
Passport, and ability to travel internationally.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Outsourced security or EP personnel, as needed for offices, events, or other Company business.
Travel:
Up to 25% global travel (as required).
Computer Skills:
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel required.
