Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Client Services Specialist in the industry of client services, located in San Mateo, California. This is a hybrid work model (two days remote) and requires travel to multiple job sites. The mileage will be expensed. The successful candidate will engage in detailed client interactions, perform insightful assessments, and develop thoughtful housing stability plans. You will be working in a team and primarily through phone conversations, often dealing with emotionally charged situations.Responsibilities: Engage in respectful, effective, and timely interaction with clients seeking homeless and housing services. Develop and implement plans to reach a timely resolution of housing crises, providing crisis counseling as needed. Conduct comprehensive intakes, screenings, and assessments of homeless clients to determine if diversion from a shelter is a feasible option. Foster relationships with landlords and develop housing leads through outreach activities, acting as a Housing Navigator. Ensure the use of San Mateo County’s chosen formal diversion and assessment tool with clients, maintaining objectivity in the process. Communicate effectively with prospective clients about the results of their assessment and the rationale for the proposed course of action. Divert homeless clients from entering the homeless arena by providing services, referrals, and mediation to resolve barriers to housing stability and prevent homelessness. Advocate for clients, mediating and resolving disputes with landlords, family, or friends to secure or stabilize housing. Coordinate rental/utility assistance strategies and necessary applications, working with clients who are able to re-house rapidly with financial resources and other resources to help them achieve housing stability. Maintain operational understanding and effective collaborative relationships with other community resources. Perform all administrative duties, maintaining current documentation of assessments and diversions in real time, ensuring complete, compliant, accurate, timely, and organized client files. Perform data entry and reporting, coordinating assessment data and records, assisting in preparing statistical reports, and ensuring data quality standards are met.Requirements Must have at least 2 years of experience in a related field Proficient in client advocacy, communications, engagement and intake Strong administrative assistance, procedures, and skills are required Spanish language proficiency is a significant advantage Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team Excellent interpersonal skills with an empathetic approach towards clients Must possess strong problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask Must have a keen eye for detail and accuracy Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred Must be legally authorized to work in the country.
