Restaurateur Larry Mindel and Chef-Owner Peter McNee opened Convivo, a restaurant and bar featuring “Nomad Italian” cuisine located directly across from East Beach and the Pacific Ocean on the ground floor of the historic Santa Barbara Inn, in 2016.
Convivo, whose name means ‘to come together’ and is the root word for the Latin term for ‘feast,’ serves dinner, lunch and breakfast seven days a week, and brunch on weekends. Our lunch and dinner menu features cicchetti (small plates served in bite size portions), shareable antipasti, housemade pasta, wood-fired pizza and Santa Barbara’s bounty of seafood and meats roasted over a wood fire.
A full bar featuring craft cocktails and local winemakers and brewers anchors our restaurant. Our extensive wine list, including tap wines, features Santa Barbara County’s best AVAs as well as selections from Italy and around the world. An expansive outdoor patio offers al fresco dining with views of the East Beach and the Channel Islands beyond, in addition to a firepit with special seating to enjoy the sunset. Convivo also caters special events at the hotel, including in the 80-seat Montecito Room.
Position Overview:
As a Bartender at Convivo, you will be responsible for crafting and serving a diverse range of beverages, including cocktails, wines, and beers, while providing exceptional hospitality to our guests. You will work closely with the Bar Manager and other team members to ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience for locals, hotel guests and other visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, according to Convivo’s standards and recipes.
Welcome and engage guests at the bar, providing recommendations and information about our beverage offerings.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including stocking supplies, cleaning glassware, and disposing of waste.
Collaborate with the kitchen and serving staff to coordinate food and beverage orders and ensure timely service.
Uphold Convivo’s standards of hospitality and professionalism, providing friendly and attentive service to all guests.
Assist in maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required.
Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible service, adhering to legal and company policies.
Qualifications
TIPS or similar responsible beverage service certification required.
Previous experience as a bartender in a high-volume fine dining restaurant or bar preferred.
Extensive knowledge of cocktails, wines, beers, and other beverages, with the ability to craft creative and well-balanced drinks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
Flexibility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
