Part Time Controller/Accountant for Marin Construction Company
A well-established Marin company involved in the high-end construction business seeks a part time Controller/Accountant to manage all aspects of accounting operations. We are a moderately sized company, focused on delivering value to our clients. We emphasize a culture of quality, integrity and accuracy. With this attitude, we deliver a level of customer service that allows us to attract a discriminating clientele. We are looking for a like-minded accounting professional to work with our team.
This is a part-time job requiring approximately 8-16 hours per week, work to be performed on-site with some remote work to be considered. Due to the limited number of hours, this position will be a good fit for someone who wishes to work as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications:
BA/BS in accounting or equivalent skills and experience
Demonstrated proficiency in Sage Contractor 100 and Microsoft 365 Business Suite
Skilled in the preparation of GAAP based financial statements
Solid understanding of budgeting, financial statement analysis, and job costing for construction firm
Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing compensation, payroll taxes, employee benefit/ retirement plans and human resources administration
Proactive problem solver
Able to work independently to produce a quality product with appropriate urgency
Excellent communication skills and a reputation for reliability and integrity

The responsibilities of the position include:
Preparation of monthly, professional grade financial statements using Sage Contractor 100
Use of accounting ratios and other financial analysis tools to monitor and report on company performance and job profitably
Strategic cash management and budgeting
Ongoing review of labor and materials standards, including the identification and investigation of variances
Maintain General Ledger and Chart of Accounts
Bank account reconciliations and the reconciliation of other balance sheet/income statement accounts to support documentation
Auditing vendor/subcontractor invoices to ensure accuracy, and the timely processing of those invoices
Development and implementation of accounting “best practices” and other procedures designed to streamline operations and increase accuracy
Preparation of all required government and insurance reports
Administration of company pension plan, including enrollment, employee disclosures and calculation of contributions
Management of human resources and payroll functions
Supervision of office manager
Acting as a liaison to the companies outside CPA and producing, on a timely basis, all documentation required for tax planning and tax preparation
