Senior Collections Representative - Non-Government Unit / Transplant

Job SummarySenior Collections Representative (SCR) is responsible for both billing and collections, gathering and securing all information needed for billing, follow up, and payment of accounts in accordance with the specific payer guidelines, policies, procedures, and compliance regulations. This includes maintaining the deficiency (WQ) lists used to obtain missing documents from internal or external entities, resolving claim rejections, packaging claims, including global billing with attachments of professional fee claims, performing proactive follow up with payers, grants and other entities and securing payment of accounts. In addition, the SCR is accountable and responsible for billing through account closure.Senior Collections Representatives utilize multiple databases and applications to analyze and take appropriate action on information or documents received. Applications and Databases consist of: Apex System, Cirius, Rev Cycle Pro, Imaging, Transplant Database, and Multiple Payer websites. There is frequent contact with insurance company representatives, hospital and clinical departments and managers, professional billing groups. as well as patients.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.htmlRequired QualificationsHS Diploma or GEDSix or more years of experience working in hospital billing office environment.Excellent of hospital billing and collections, including skillset for billing and collections of packaged claims, stop losses, per diems, carve outs and other contract terms and conditions and CPT, ICD, DRG, and HCPC codesUnderstanding of Professional Fees.Strong analytical and organizational skills, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Excellent of computer operation to include MS Office, keyboard functions, calculator, copier and fax machine operation.Proactive and assertive account resolution skills. Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exceptional work ethic.Ability to follow directions and written procedures. High attention to detail is essential. Ability to balance assertiveness with compassion for the patient and others.Must be able to work onsite in our Emeryville office with the possibility of working remote from time to time.Preferred QualificationsMedical terminology experience.
