I’m looking for a capable, self-directed household manager to help keep my home running smoothly. This role combines hands-on cleaning with ownership, coordination, and follow-through. The right person notices what needs doing and handles it without being asked.
This is a part-time, long-term role, not a temporary or stopgap position.
Schedule & Structure
16–20 hours per week
Guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week
Work is primarily during weekday school hours
Days and exact times are flexible by agreement
This role generally does not overlap with evenings, weekends, or family time
Structured with guaranteed weekly hours rather than strict hour-by-hour scheduling
Responsibilities
Regular home cleaning and upkeep (4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home with two young kids)
Laundry, including changing bed linens and sorting/hanging
Care of finished wood floors, wood furniture, decks
Handling occasional personal and household logistics (returns, appointments, light travel planning, coordinating services)
Breaking down cardboard boxes and taking recycling to the recycling center
Coordinating specialty cleaners, repair people, and service providers
Organizing household projects and storage
Assembling furniture and handling light home projects
Finding, vetting, and scheduling vendors or helpers
Optional / nice to have: occasional driving of children or light babysitting by prior agreement. But childcare is not a primary responsibility of this role.
Required Experience (Non-Negotiable)
Several years of professional residential cleaning experience
Comfortable safely cleaning wood floors, stone surfaces, and wood furniture
Strong laundry skills and fabric care
Experience working independently in private homes
Able to prioritize tasks and manage time without close supervision
What I’m Looking For
Prior experience as a household manager, family assistant, or senior/lead cleaner
Proactive, organized, and reliable
Comfortable owning a task list and solving small problems independently
Good judgment and discretion
Comfortable with hands-on work as well as coordination and logistics
Practical Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (This is a W-2 household employee role)
Comfortable communicating independently in spoken and written English with me and with service providers

This is a role for someone who likes responsibility and autonomy
This is not a cleaning-only position
This is not a nanny-first role
This is not a short-term or temporary job
Compensation
$45–$55/hour, depending on experience
W-2 household employee
Guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week
Paid weekly or biweekly
Time Off
Paid sick time in accordance with California law
Two weeks (32 hours) of paid vacation per year, accrued monthly and coordinated in advance, starting after 90 days
