We are a worker-owned and operated bakery, specializing in sourdough breads, pastries and vegetarian pizzas made with fresh organic ingredients. Bakers share in all aspects of operating the business, including baking, serving customers, cleaning, ordering, maintenance and finance. Employment averages 25-32 hours/week + committee hours.
We provide training for the baking shifts and other non-production committee roles. As a democratically run cooperative, we attend general meetings once a month to seek agreement on operational decisions, and operate without managers or hierarchy. After six months of employment, candidates will have the opportunity to become co-owner of the business by member vote from all other existing members. Seeking candidates who are interested in long-term employment, we have no temporary positions available.
We currently have 20 member-owners operating Arizmendi Bakery @9th avenue, SF. We are also members of the Association of Arizmendi Cooperatives, which includes Berkeley's Cheese Board, Root Volume landscaping cooperative, and four other Arizmendi Cooperative bakeries around the bay area.
