Bar/General Manager

We are looking for a motivated and social individual to join the team as our Taproom Manager/General Manager. This individual must have a passion for a high level of customer service and professionalism. Prior experience within the industry is highly desirable. Said individual will oversee our taproom operations by staffing, scheduling and maintaining a high level of customer service. They will be responsible for interacting with our guests, our production and social media staff, and our event manager in scheduling and running reservations/events.

Individual will schedule daily shifts, coordinate weekly/monthly events, maintain our POS menu, and lead a team of taproom staff, focusing on customer service and beer knowledge while working on managing costs and ideally increasing revenue.

Blue Oak Brewing is ideally looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about craft beer and our brand, and wants to grow professionally within the company. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience and be competent at delegating tasks and leading by example.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Develop business strategies, event, etc. to attract more customers, expand taproom traffic, and optimize profitability

· Maintain inventory of all taproom supplies and order and track resupplies as needed

· Create and manage taproom schedule for bartenders

· Handle staffing issues related to Front of House.

· Update/Maintain Taproom Menu (both food and beverage) in print and on website

· Develop procedures for, and oversee, keeping the facility organized/orderly/clean

· Maintain smooth daily/nightly taproom operations while overseeing beer, food, and retail operations as well as special events

· Create and ensure adherence to specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of the taproom business and hold teammates accountable to them

· Ensure taproom opening and closing procedures are being followed

· Ensure all safety protocols are observed in the taproom; train, reinforce, and improve a safety culture and attitude in taproom operations

· Oversee and uphold excellence in all areas of customer service including, but not limited to, greeting and educating customers, and processing transactions

· Maintain a clean and welcoming taproom environment at all times

· Deal swiftly and effectively with all issues that arise from staff and/or customers

· Plan, organize, market, and execute taproom events

· Help coordinate beer releases

· Assist in staff meetings and trainings as necessary

· Be involved with Blue Oak’s social media presence and promote taproom events and beer releases

· Assist in the development and maintenance of all taproom marketing collateral

· Perform regular staff training on beer profiles, style history, sensory notes, etc.

· Represent Blue Oak at industry events, conferences, and marketing events as needed

· Work with Head Brewer to ensure draft equipment is routinely cleaned and serviced

· Perform preventative maintenance on facility and equipment, namely draft lines and taps.

· Become highly proficient in the use of our point of sale (POS) system and continue to update and maintain POS terminals

· Assist in brewing operations as necessary (primarily inventory management)

· Flexibility to work any taproom position as necessary

· Must be able and willing to work weekends, daytime, evenings, and holidays (our taproom hours are listed on our website)

Job Requirements:

· At least 21 years old

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Prior experience in a relevant service industry role

Physical Requirements:

· Bar atmosphere, loud, warehouse conditions

· Ability to frequently reach with hands and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

· Ability to lift up to 55 pounds

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

· Strong communication skills

· Strong understanding of social media platforms and how best to utilize/optimize

· Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

· Ideally at least two years of experience managing a taproom/bar

· In-depth knowledge of and appreciation for the craft beer industry and emerging trends

· Previous event management experience is preferable

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle conflicting priorities, and consistently maintain high quality output

· Excellent time management and delegation skills

· Confident, team-oriented management style

· Natural 'jump-in-and-help'/ team player mentality

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly, professional attitude. You will be the face of the brand, and as such, a critical team member!
