Fatted Calf at The Oxbow Public Market in Napa is currently for three positions; full or part time Counter Sales Associate, full time Production Assistant and Prep Cook.
Counter Sales Associates are responsible for providing outstanding customer service, generating sales, merchandising and helping to promote a dynamic retail environment that focuses on humanely and sustainably raised meat, locally produced and grown ingredients, and unique imports that pair with our hand-crafted charcuterie. Responsibilities include assisting customers, opening and closing the meat counter, assisting butchers with cutting for the case, roast tying and order fulfillment, cash handling and use of POS system, cleaning and maintaining shop workspaces, performing nightly cleaning tasks and producing cheese and charcuterie platters. All candidates must be personable and presentable, possess the ability to multitask and a desire to learn, be available full or part time, be flexible and able to work evenings and at least one weekend day,have a valid Food Handlers Certificate and be at least 18 years of age.
The Production Assistant helps with the production of fresh meats, charcuterie and prepared foods for both retail and wholesale distribution. Tasks and responsibilities include butchery, sausage making and other food preparation. Candidates must have a valid Food Handlers Certificate and a minimum of 1 year of kitchen or butchery experience. This is a full time, daytime position, Monday through Friday.
The Prep Cook position is a full time daytime position, Monday through Friday. The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting with the preparation of menu items such as soups, salads and sandwiches. Candidates must have a valid Food Handlers Certificate, be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of 1 year of kitchen experience.
