Duration: 6 weeks of work between Friday, June 7 - Sunday, July 21

Dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Hours: 8:30am - 6:30pm (10 hours per day, 30-min unpaid lunch)

Location: Jack London Square, Oakland

Status: Full-time, Temporary Employee

Rate: $25/hour, plus 1.5 hours of overtime per day

SIMULATE is a plant-based food company located in Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. We are looking for 2 amazing humans to join our existing Production Team for a special project. This temp opportunity will start on Friday, June 7 and end on Sunday, July 21. The schedule for this work will be 10-hour shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:30am - 6:30pm.

(Please note: you will not have to work over the July 4th weekend. We are happy to skip that weekend to accommodate holiday schedules. Even though you will not work that weekend, you will be paid 8-regular hours of holiday pay on Friday, July 5).

Because you will be working 10-hour shifts, you will receive 8-hrs regular pay @ $25.00, 1.5 hrs @37.50, as well as a 30-min unpaid lunch and plenty of rest breaks! All in all, you can count on 28 hours per week over the 7-week period (with the exception of July 5-7).

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a hands-on temporary position that will assist SIMULATE in producing our newest plant-based meat product. The role will include the weighing and mixing of dry ingredients, making protein and salt solutions for use in food manufacturing, operating process equipment, cooking and packaging products, and thoroughly cleaning the area and the process equipment at the end of each day. You will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and sanitizing of process equipment, such as mixers, pumps, and other equipment, which will be tested with environmental swab tests on a daily basis. In addition, we will ask you to keep excellent documentation of all batch records and notify our team leaders of any deviations in operations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The safety of our team members is our number one priority at SIMULATE! All team members are expected to follow strict safety and quality procedures; our team leaders will provide thorough training on all safety and quality standards. Lab coats, hairnets, gloves, earplugs, and any other personal protective equipment will be provided to protect clothes and to create a food-safe environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

While no prior lab or food production experience is necessary for success in this temporary position, candidates must be willing to learn to operate new equipment and be respectful and collaborative with other team members. Candidates must also be able to:

- Speak and write in English to communicate effectively with other SIMULATE team members.

- Read English to follow Standard Operating Procedures and operate basic laboratory analytical equipment (e.g. pH meter).

- Keep accurate and timely logs of data and process values.

- Use both arms and hands to mix ingredients, clean equipment, etc.

- Walk/stand for several hours at a time (though adequate rest breaks will be given!)
