At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), our facilities team has the important job of making sure our campuses are operating optimally and efficiently. As a Facilities Technician at our beautiful campus in San Rafael, you’ll enjoy keeping our buildings in top shape and providing the support that enables us to achieve our daily goals. You’ll perform general-to-advanced-level tasks, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Duties may involve plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC for buildings, equipment, fleet, grounds, and off-site properties.

You’ll find a challenging variety of systems and projects here – enough to keep you busy, engaged, and always learning something new. We have offices, kennels, veterinary clinics, a residence hall, and a commercial kitchen – each with its own systems and controls. Every day will be different.

Because we are a self-contained campus, you will get to know how things run as you develop relationships across departments and provide services to different teams. Plenty of customer service is involved and you will enjoy the friendly, quality people here.

Our collaborative facilities team works together, providing support and teaching each other. Plus, you will enjoy training opportunities and assistance in obtaining licenses.

You’ll work a consistent 40-hour schedule Monday through Friday, with an occasional weekend day when we have a graduation ceremony. Unlike many facilities jobs, we have no night hours and we’re flexible when you need to take some time to manage your life.

The qualifications you’ll need:

Experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC maintenance desired

Great customer service and communication skills

Proficiency using general power tools, meters, and testing devices

Vocational/trade school experience a plus

Valid driver’s license and insurability at non-risk rates

Pay Range:

$29 - $35/hour

Full-time (40 hours/week)
