The Deburring Lead is responsible for overseeing the deburring process, ensuring the removal of burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections from machined parts. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of deburring techniques and tools. The Deburring Lead will coordinate with the production team to maintain quality standards and improve efficiency in the deburring department.

The deburring staff reports to Deburring Lead
RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Deburring Operations:
Inspect parts for burrs, sharp edges, and other imperfections, ensuring high quality standards are met.
Operate deburring equipment, such as grinders, sanders, and other finishing tools.
Review the production plan and allocate deburring personnel to most appropriately meet it
Discuss with production manager about the plan to produce a new achievable plan if the original is not feasible
Ensure that the necessary materials, tools, documents, etc. are available for each deburring activity in the production plan and showing up at the right place at the right time
Monitor the performance of each deburring activity or job, both in time and quality
Conduct quality inspections of deburred parts to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
Intervene with those jobs when appropriate to bring them back to production standards
Escalate deburring issues to production manager when solutions to these issues are not within reasonable reach of deburring personnel expertise
Review, analyze, develop and maintain deburring best practices, and department standard operating procedures
2 Staff Development
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Review the performance of deburring staff, and provide feedback to these personnel
Mentor and train deburring team to develop their deburring skills and knowledge
Provide production manager with guidance with respect to any necessary disciplinary actions for reports, develop the appropriate documentation for those actions, as well as communicating the decisions of those actions.
Develop process and curriculum for the career development of deburring staff, from entry level to subject matter expertise, with the help of the production manager
3 Continuous Improvement
Evaluate deburring practices and resources to determine what could be improved
Monitor and analyze deburring processes to identify opportunities for optimization
Work with engineering and production teams to develop new deburring methods and techniques
JOB QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
The deburr lead must be highly skilled in the development of CNC machining processes and have knowledge and experience in all aspects of the process. Prior supervisory experience is required
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent – technical training or certification in manufacturing or machining on top of this preferred
5 years of experience in deburring or related field
2 years of experience in a leadership role
Must have a excellent visual attention to detail
Demonstrated knowledge of deburring techniques, tools, and equipment
Ability to read an interpret technical drawings and specifications
Demonstrated ability to use inspection equipment typical in the industry, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Appropriate computer proficiency to read drawings and communicate issues with peer and higher-level management.
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Must have good manual dexterity and able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be capable of standing and working with hands for prolonged periods of time
The Deburr Department works an alternative work schedule:
Monday through Thursday 7AM to 4:30PM
Friday 7AM to 11AM
