Award-winning, Berkeley based builder specializing in upscale remodeling and residential construction. McCutcheon Construction Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking an experienced individual with construction experience to be an Estimator/Assistant Project Manager. This is a great opportunity for a professional, organized, detail-oriented person with a desire to be part of a collaborative, driven team.

The Estimator/Assistant Project Manager is responsible for generating construction budgets, schedules and contracts to achieve company goals for revenue, gross profit and customer satisfaction. This person works directly with our Development and Production teams to support projects from the development phase through project completion.

Scope of knowledge and experience must, at a minimum, include rough carpentry, finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical, doors/windows, drywall, painting, cabinets, tile, landscaping. Ability to read construction plans is a must.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Review plans, elevations, specifications and engineering reports to determine project scope

Site visits and job walks with subcontractors for bidding purposes

Work with Development team to create accurate budgets and schedules to present to homeowner

Site visits with prospects and clients

Contract administration for pre-construction and construction projects

Research products and subcontractors and analyze historical data to maintain accurate price information

Provide support to Production to manage construction projects to completion

SKILLS AND TRAITS

Professional demeanor, appearance and attitude

Confidence based on real world experience

Proficient in Office 365 including Excel

Ability to speak, write and read in English

Comfortable and skilled working with all types of clients and design professionals

Must be flexible to a variety of internal and external schedules, capable of prioritizing responsibilities with the ability to efficiently work under pressure and within deadlines

An understanding of architectural and construction administration services, including budgeting, scheduling, planning, specifications and working drawings

Knowledge of Sage 100, BuilderTrend and Microsoft Project considered a plus

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five years working in construction, estimating and/or administration

COMPENSATION

$81-85k depending upon experience, with Paid Time Off, flexible hours, excellent health benefits including HSA, 401k with matching, ESOP stock plan
