Job Description
The Jr. Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting the senior level systems administrator with provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual will also assist with technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and support all helpdesk related functions.
Assist with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer/server hardware
Assist with equipment specifications, setup, problem resolution, network support, etc., related to computer hardware and software
Help keep existing servers patched and up-to-date
Assist with installations, maintaining and troubleshooting
◦ Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11, Windows 2016/2019)
◦ virtual environments (VMware)

◦ automation script/programs

◦ new client setups

Help with any projects and related tasks to all current and future projects
Assist internal and external end-users with software, hardware and network problems
Help with monitoring the health and performance of the network, including firewalls, core and edge routers, network switches to maintain optimum levels
Transmit files through various transmission protocols
Perform various user setup requests, such as setting up user IDs, printer definitions, etc.
Escalate to management any problems or issues that could affect service levels
Maintain, initiate, and test the Business Resumption Recovery Plan
Responsible for Desktop documentation and the update of internal inventory lists
Knowledge of common protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, DNS, SNMP, DHCP
Must be able to work weekends, as required, to meet workload demands and occasional production on-call duties
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, related technical training (or equivalent experience)
2 years Helpdesk and 1+ year systems administration experience preferred
Strong knowledge of business functions and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees in both technical and non-technical roles
Knowledge of Microsoft operation systems, Windows software, hardware, various applications
Knowledge of the network components
Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Customer service and telephone skills with experience in dealing with users in a similar environment
Experience with system networking and security, such as TCP/IP, IPSEC, Secure File Transfer, FTP transmissions, and printer connectivity
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledgeable with PC hardware/components and Windows Server
Linux/Unix Operating Systems
Powershell scripting
Web IIS/Web Services
Problem-solving skills
Flexible and adaptable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Project Management a plus
