The Program Coordinator directly reports to the Assistant Director for NSFP and will assist in all facets of our team's planning, preparation, and execution of a robust new student and family orientation process rooted in data and student development theory.In particular, the Program Coordinator collaborates with the Senior Program Coordinator to build and run the Journey Leader program and a growing slate of summer orientation programs, which includes supervising/co-supervising and training approximately 35-40 student staff and teaching a 1-credit, 8-week leadership course. This role is also solely responsible for planning and hosting small group Buff Meetups throughout Fall Welcome, as well as collaborating closely with the Graduate School and International Student & Scholar Services to plan and host Graduate Student Orientation and International Student Orientation, respectively, during both Fall and Spring Welcome.The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. Serving as a centralized hub that equips students with resources, guidance, and peer connections to facilitate a successful transition to CU Boulder and develop an inclusive community,

Offering intentional opportunities to new students and families to engage with academic units, support services, and other community members, and

Providing experiences that cultivate community, celebrate traditions, and set campus expectations that encourage pride and a sense of belonging.

We carry out this mission through a combination of in-person orientations, online orientation modules, and extended orientation programs throughout the summer for incoming students; population-specific orientations (such as International Student Orientation and Graduate Student Orientation), small group meetups, and large-scale signature events as part of Fall Welcome and Spring Welcome; the Transfer Buffs Living Learning Community and other transfer student-focused events throughout the year; and a full slate of programs for both new and returning families, including Family Webinars and Coffee Hours, Family Welcome Tents during move-in, Family Weekend, and more. Additionally, our office houses the Academic Success and Achievement Program (ASAP) peer tutoring program for first-year and residential students.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeProgram Management

Coordinate, refine, and grow welcome and orientation programs rooted in OTR (Orientation, Transition, and Retention) standard processes to provide comprehensive support to new students/their families through their transition to CU Boulder, including:

Collaborating with the Senior Program Coordinator to plan/run College Connection, our in-person, overnight, summer orientation program for new students.

Leading all components of Graduate Student Orientation schedule planning and assessment in collaboration with the Graduate School/International Student Orientation in partnership with International Student & Scholar Services during both Fall and Spring Welcome.

Planning and training student Journey Leaders to run small group Buff Meetups throughout Fall Welcome for the purpose of building affinity and connection between new students with a broad spectrum of interests.

Manage all program-related logistics, including room reservations, catering/dining requests, rentals, campus partner outreach, staffing, and parking.

Lead all aspects of budgetary management for all program-related finances and purchases, totaling approximately $500,000 annually.

Collaborate with the NSFP team and Student Affairs Communication & Marketing to establish deliberate marketing and communication strategies (i.e. website, publications, and social media content) targeted for respective populations and programs.

Assist the NSFP team by contributing to the Online Experience orientation module, supporting new students during summer Enrollment Windows (course registration), and collaborating with other NSFP professional staff and campus partners to host and support events during Spring and Fall Welcome, as well as other collaborative initiatives and programs as needed.

Student Development and Leadership

Co-supervise a cohort of 30-35 student Journey Leaders, who are employed on a seasonal contract cycle to support summer orientation programs, Fall Welcome, and Family Weekend programming.

Supervise 2-3 Journey Leader Mentors, who are employed on a full-year contract cycle to support all programming and Journey Leader training.

Partner with the Senior Program Coordinator to plan and facilitate trainings for Journey Leaders / Journey Leader Mentors, and provide additional professional development opportunities throughout the year for Mentors. As well as complete an annual recruitment and selection process for Journey Leaders/Journey Leader Mentors throughout the fall and early spring semesters.

Contribute material to the Journey Leader course curriculum during the annual review of content, and teach one section of the 1-credit course for an 8-week period in the spring semester.

Develop/implement a recognition plan for Journey Leaders/Journey Leader Mentors, including planning/hosting the annual fall semester thank you celebration.

Create and revise training documents and other resources that provide up-to-date information about programs and activities.

Facilitate quarterly performance reviews and evaluation plans on a consistent and timely basis.

Manage timesheet review and approval process.

Serve as the primary crisis response manager for student staff emergency protocol and education.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Work closely with the rest of the NSFP team to set goals, program components, and schedules for summer orientation programs, Fall/Spring Welcome programs, and other initiatives.

Serve as NSFP liaison to the Graduate School/ International Student & Scholar Services to produce Graduate Student Orientation/International Student Orientation, respectively.

Partner with campus offices and departments to facilitate the new student/family welcome experience. Significant department collaborations may include, but are not limited to, Admissions, advising units in Schools/Colleges, Office of Information Technology (OIT), University Information Systems (UIS), Student Affairs Communication & Marketing, International Student & Scholar Services, Graduate School, University Housing, Residence Life, and Conference Services.

Serve as a representative to campus committees and represent the office at regional and national conferences.

Strategic Planning & Assessment

Work in conjunction with NSFP staff to design and implement a comprehensive assessment and evaluation framework for the New Student Experience/ Journey Leader program.

Contribute to the development/achievement of the NSFP's Strategic Plan by creating goals and learning outcomes for programs, assessing programs you coordinate, and using assessment data to make informed decisions about the next program cycle.

Office & Customer Service Management

Support central office operation, customer service management, and emergency and crisis response practices.

Provide front-line office support as needed including greeting and supporting guests in person, via telephone system operation, email, text messages, and live chats.

Track office inventory and general operation needs.

Other Duties as Assigned

Occasional evenings and weekends are required. Longer hours should be expected during highly programmatic times, including select dates in June and July (Buffalo Summer Experiences), August (Fall Welcome), October (Family Weekend), and January (Spring Welcome).

What You Should Know

Occasional evening/weekend commitments are required.

Student Affairs currently requires all divisional employees to work 3 days per week in the office, with up to 2 days of work from home allowed each week.

Regular office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, during the academic year. During the summer, office hours shift to 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Longer hours should be expected during highly programmatic times, including select dates in June and July (summer programs), August (Fall Welcome), October (Family Weekend), and January (Spring Welcome).

What We Can Offer

The starting salary for this position is $50,000 - $51,700 annually.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

1+ year of professional, job-related experience in a college or university setting. Two years of graduate-level assistantships will count as equivalent to one year of professional experience.

Demonstrated experience in supervising and training student staff.

Demonstrated experience collaborating with teammates in a customer-focused environment.
