Assembly, Packaging, Metal Fabrication Technician

We are growing rapidly and seeking a skilled craftsperson who can own various processes at the studio. The processes are developed and need someone to run them independently and with minimal supervision. Over time you will grow into owning and becoming an expert at various processes and areas within the factory.

Key Responsibilities

Inspections : Use a calipers to measure parts from vendors against technical drawings to ensure accuracy.

Organization: Learn various parts of our light fixtures and organize them into project bins for fabrication and processing.

Metal Work: Light metal fabrication that includes use of drills, lathe, and mill. Previous experience is a plus.

Assembly: Follow and refine processes to assemble light fixtures in the correct order and matching requirements specified.

Packaging: Final cleaning, wrapping, and packaging that includes use of bubble wrap, tape gun, and applying labels.

Quality Control: Inspect work throughout the process to ensure high standards are met.

Collaboration: Work closely with the production and assembly teams to keep up with timelines for projects.

Maintenance: Care for finishing tools and materials, ensuring a clean and safe workspace.

Studio Setup: Ability to help with studio projects including constructing tables, installing air lines, and organizing stock parts and tools.

Required Qualifications

Strong attention to detail. Seriously. Hundreds of steps go into building a light sculpture and must be completed with precision.

Experience in metal fabrication, woodworking, jewelry, or another precise and complex handwork skill.

Able to proficiently work with a variety of hand tools

Able to safely and proficiently work with power tools.

Ability to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Ability to use a computer to read and edit documents and basic spreadsheets.

Able to work independently and manage one’s own time

Ability to work quickly and efficiently in fast paced environment.

Ability and desire to own and run multiple processes and juggle competing requirements for your time.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using a calipers for measurement, working in a machine shop, jewelry, or other precision processes
