Position: Tree Health Care Apprentice

Employment Type: Full-time, Seasonal (March through November)

Location: Northern Colorado (Loveland)

Pay: $26.50-$28.50 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications

Job Description:

As a Tree Health Care Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and vitality of trees and landscapes. Your responsibilities will include applying treatments to control insects and diseases, as well as fertilizer application, under the guidance of a licensed Qualified Supervisor. You will work independently in outdoor environments, often in varying weather conditions, ensuring the safety and well-being of both yourself and the environment.

Requirements:

Education and Certification:

ISA Certified Arborist OR Colorado Certified Operator in pesticide application

OR Formal education (Associate's or Bachelor's degree) in a related field such as forestry, horticulture, or environmental science, AND on-the-job experience in the landscape or forestry industries

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to safely and accurately apply pesticides and fertilizers

Thorough knowledge of tree and plant health care practices

Strong plant identification skills

Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service

Good organizational and time management skills, including punctuality for on-time attendance

Ability to work independently and follow safety protocols

Physical capability to perform tasks including bending, reaching, stooping, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to operate, maintain and perform light repairs to mechanical equipment

Additional Requirements:

Adherence to all state and federal pesticide regulations

Ability to move quickly when necessary, stand or sit for long periods, walk long distances, and have good mobility

Proficiency in solving simple math problems with a calculator, including calculating percentages and multiplying/dividing by ratios

Advancement:

After one season as an Apprentice and after obtaining a Qualified Supervisors license, you may apply for the position of Applicator. Regardless of your experience, all technicians must start as an Apprentice first.
