Develop, qualify, validate and document fabrication processes under direction, for cable/wire harnessing, including soldering and polymerics to meet IPC requirements.

Develop and implement process qualifications and validations under direction, for fabrication processes, including background test, design and implementation, sample selection, researching historical supporting documentation, writing detailed systems engineering reports, and implementing tests.

Perform Design of Experiments (DOE), collect and report metrics, and investigate process improvements for PWA and harness fabrication processes. Lean six sigma experience desired.

Perform process gap analysis, maintain process risk and opportunity analysis, and act on findings to improve processes and increase efficiency.

Troubleshoot and determine root cause analysis of cable/harness failure modes and communicate with internal and external customers on activities associated with anomaly resolution.

Successful candidate must be able to perform instructor led training courses, including development of course materials, curriculums, and perform on-the-job training for technicians. IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Trainer preferred.

Develop guidelines for design for manufacture and design for test of cable/harness assemblies and printed wiring assemblies, while monitoring product and process quality as part of continuous improvement.

Support supplier reviews and supplier issue resolution, including site visits and on-the-job training at supplier locations.

Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Perform other duties as necessary.

What Youll Need:

Engineer Associate - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.

Engineer I - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.

Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

3 years or more of experience developing and/or improving manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements preferred.

1 year or experience developing and/or improving harness fabrication (soldering, cable/wire harnessing, and polymerics) processes to meet J- STD/IPC requirements preferred.

Must be able to work in a team environment with customers, auditors, engineers, assemblers, industry representatives and technicians.

Excellent communication is essential.

Ability to work directly with manufacturing technicians to ensure products meet end item requirements and processes are followed.

Ability to work under only general direction (independently determining and developing approaches to solutions).

Willingness to learn additional electronics manufacturing processes, including ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection.

Must be competent in learning new software as a user, with particular emphasis on configuration and design management systems, learning management systems, design and data management system, and electronic build documentation.

Certification and previous experience with J-STD/IPC instruction preferred.

Harness/Cable and/or electronics (flex circuit, PWA/PWB) experience preferred.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations is required.Working Conditions:

However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.Relocation for this position is available.Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER ASSOCIATE: $72,000 - $X89,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER I: $87,000 - $108,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
