A pop-up modern Jamaican food concept is seeking a talented and motivated Part-Time Contract Prep/Line Cook specializing in Jamaican cuisine. The ideal candidate will be experienced in preparing authentic Jamaican dishes. This person should possess a strong understanding of traditional flavors and techniques, while also comfortable experimenting with global flavors and ideas.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare and cook Jamaican dishes with precision and creativity.
-Follow recipes accurately while maintaining high-quality standards.
-Ensure ingredients are prepared efficiently and according to safety and hygiene standards.
-Work quickly and effectively.
-Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new and exciting offerings.
Qualifications:
-Proven experience in Jamaican cuisine and kitchen environments.
-Strong knife skills.
-Knowledge of Jamaican spices and cooking methods.
-Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and speed.
-Creative flair for developing and enhancing flavor profiles.
-Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
-Current food handler’s certification
-Understanding of health department requirements and experience being prepared for inspections.
-Experience at festivals, events, and catering ideal.
