We build practical solutions that are safe, innovative, and sustainable.  Our large backlog and track record of winning multidisciplinary rail programs will create many opportunities to utilize your engineering design expertise, apply your technical leadership, innovatively solve problems.        Our industry leading Rail Vehicle and Operations team is adding a Mechanical Engineer to our Rail Practice in our Greenbelt, MD office.  As an influential member of our engineering team, you will work on the challenges facing our clients as they modernize and maintain critical passenger rail assets.  While direct experience on rail vehicles is preferred, transferrable skills from similar industries will be considered as equivalent experience for this position.   You bring to the role: 

A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience

Knowledge of electro-mechanical / mechanical systems (pneumatics, HVAC, brakes) on rail vehicles.

Project management experience is preferred, but not required.

A professional engineering license (P.E.) is preferred, but not required.

Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills

Strong organizational skills.

A desire to work with a team, or in a lead role in a client centered environment

A knack for multi-tasking and handling a variety of work assignments under deadlines.

How you will work:

Solve client problems through design efforts

Shape the outcome of solution through design reviews of submittals from vendors,

Contribute to technical working sessions to solve problems raised by clients

Get hands on experience evaluating real prototype and first article equipment; guide design revisions through a detailed descriptions of review findings

Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits

Witness equipment undergoing qualification testing, including shock and vibration, environmental, and functional testing

Assist with the conduct forensic investigation of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staff

Develop technical specifications for mechanical equipment

Be a key resource as engineer supporting your teammates
