The Medical Director holds a primarily administrative position.Principal Duties:
Review medical cases with respect to employees who have been injured, ill or otherwise restricted from performing their duties for medical reasons for the purpose of determining whether a given employee is medically fit to return to his or her specific duties.
Provide recommendations with each case review as to whether a current employee or an offeree for NS employment is medically fit for his or her specific duties with NS.
Provide input, as needed, on placement and removal from Short-term and Long-term Disability classification.
Serve as a medical consultant to supervisors, employees and outside health care providers regarding our Medical department policies, guidelines, any fitness for service concerns and other medical issues.
Assist the Chief Medical Officer in developing and updating Medical department programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 3-5 years of Occupational Medicine experience in clinical setting
Preferred: In addition to the above, clinical experience in primary care field
Education:
Preferred: Board Certified in ABMS specialty
Required Level: Doctor of Medicine; Occupational Medicine residency
Licenses / Certifications:
Required: Valid Medical License; Board Certification in Occupational Medicine
Preferred: Medical Review Officer Certification; ACLS certification
