Job DescriptionIn the digital services space, customers require assurances that services (like cloud offerings) meet certain standards (among other requirements). Tracking these requirements is important for responding to RFPs, communicating offerings to customers, and planning for new or acquired datacenters. The mission of the External Standards and Community Engagement team is to encourage, coordinate, and facilitate Oracle’s engagement in external technical standards setting organizations and related activities to meet business needs.This position will focus on engagement in traditional and formal standards engagements ( e.g. formal or consortia standards; INCITS, JTC 1, SC38, W3C and OASIS, CNCF), and also look at the emerging realm of consortia and open source project-derived technical standards. This includes monitoring, outreach, and developer evangelism inside and outside of the company, looking at areas of priority including cloud, security, cybersecurity and privacy for investment. In addition, the individual in this role will be required to examine and propose a strategy for new areas, including AI, multicloud, database, and design and accessibility standards. Lastly, we would need this individual to create a more formal coordination with our healthcare standards.This position requires a good understanding of software architectures, devops processes, and a background or experience as a programmer. Past work with compliance, security, privacy, healthcare or financial standards would also be desirable. This is a corporate role, where we analyze emerging regulations, legislation, open source initiatives and standards that impact a broad portfolio of Oracle’s products. This person would work with LOBs, government affairs, corporate security architecture, global information security, and global product security, among others. This person would also assist sales with technical standards-related requests and policy questions.We are seeking a versatile, dynamic technical leader to drive and continue developing a lightweight corporate coordination function to inform and advocate for our cloud and product line applications for our open source, standards and standards compliance teams across Oracle.You will have responsibilities for managing and driving initiatives supporting standards related development and engagement management working across the business including healthcare and industry vertical-related standards, including construction, financials, communications, retail, and hospitality.You will work directly with standards and compliance program leaders, product managers, government affairs, and legal to execute operational and strategic initiatives. You will drive the group’s impact and internal visibilityResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities Include:

Develop and drive strategic objectives based on business drivers and external trends.

Maintain contacts and manage relationships with stakeholders across the company to understand current business drivers and need, Identify critical trends, standards, technical requirements, and testing/certification/labeling initiatives that can impact the company’s ability to go to market.

Track and join, staff, or form internal working groups to support representing Oracle’s interests in external standards engagements ( e.g. formal or consortia standards; INCITS, JTC 1, SC38, W3C and OASIS, CNCF)

Serve as an ombudsman for sales and deals teams to expedite standards and open source related requests and ensure company-wide initiatives serve their needs.

Lead or join cross-organizational initiatives to develop Oracle-wide procedures for emerging reporting requirements/requests, in line with external standards.

Support development of company best practices and/or strategy for BUs participating in standards and open source projects.

Determine and drive improvements, update processes, and frequency to gather and share information (in our internal information hub and elsewhere).

Support teams, as needed, to define internal standard practices and procedures.

Communicate the trends/state of affairs of our product team standards engagement teams to senior management and leaders across the business.

Identify new trends and requirements for emerging standards areas and provide recommendations to management.

What skills we are looking for:

5 years or more experience in standards/regulation/lobby/governance program/project management, related to international standards and open source consortia. engagements ( e.g. formal or consortia standards; INCITS, JTC 1, SC38, W3C and OASIS, CNCF)

Technical cloud software development, devops, database or application development experience.

Demonstrated experience in the development of new processes for managing large-scale programs and reporting.

A track record of effective stakeholder engagements and collaboration as well as consensus-building.

Able to lead and work within an international/remote team environment.

Able to quickly prepare and provide written and oral briefings to management.

Mastery of MS-Office suite producing macro driven reports, dashboards, and tracking reports for management as well as tools such as Confluence, Jira, or Asana.

Excellent communications (written/verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

BS/BA or MS degree in a related field such as engineering, computer science, business, etc.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
