Description As billing clerk you will be responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's billing procedures and processes, ensuring invoices and bills are accurate, processed and sent out to customers on time. They handle all accounts receivable, keep track of money owed by customers, update their records, and handle any disputes or discrepancies.Key responsibilities often include:
Creating and issuing invoices to customers.
Collecting payment for goods or services provided.
Updating customer records and ensuring they are correct.
Handling disputes or discrepancies related to billing.
Communicating with clients regarding billing issues.
Preparing reports on billing activity.
Coordinating with other departments involved in billing processes.
Ensure all billing procedures comply with regulations and laws.
Maintaining confidentiality and security of financial information.
Requirements
As a billing clerk you will need to have strong attention to detail, good numeracy and accuracy, strong organization and administrative skills, an understanding of billing procedures and principles, proficiency in relevant software (like Excel or accounting software), and good communication skills. They also need to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Qualifications typically include a high school diploma or equivalent, though some positions may require or prefer a bachelor's degree in a field like finance or accounting.
