Responsibilities Assistant United States Attorney's in the Criminal Division prosecute federal cases in the District of Maryland and advise federal law enforcement agents on investigations, present cases to the grand jury, and try cases before the United States District Court. AUSAs in the National Security Division are responsible for combatting national security and cyber security threats facing our region and our nation. See www.sss.gov. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 3 years post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred applicants will possess substantial experience in handling national security and/or cyber-related investigations or litigation. The preferred applicant will have substantial experience handling all phases of prosecuting these types of cases including pre-trial litigation, trials, sentencing, post-sentencing proceedings and appeals. Preferred applicants will also demonstrate superior oral and written communications skills, possess the ability to work as part of a team, with an emphasis on working well with client agencies. Applicants should have strong character and interpersonal skills, the ability to adapt and demonstrate the capacity to function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment. Degree Additional Information Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of pay is $88,923.00 to $191,800 which includes 33.26% locality pay.
