Buying Blue, a new initiative from Procurement Services was designed to promote best practices, create efficiencies, and maximize resources on the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint, and Michigan Medicine campuses. This innovative outreach approach includes procurement buying reviews as well as networking and training opportunities all designed to help the U-M purchasing community support the institution's missions of education, research, and patient care.The main focus of this position is to enhance the customer service processes and deliverables of Procurement Services. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, improvement, and operation of analysis and reporting, information flow, and issue resolution. The goal is to ensure that the department is well-equipped to meet the present and future requirements of the university. In collaboration with the Program Manager, act as a subject matter expert on services provided throughout the organization. This includes connecting campus needs with existing services and department leadership and presenting requests for new or existing services
Ensure processes are effective in managing and communicating information for and about university partners
Maintain, improve, and create data sets, related documents, and information repositories.
Define requirements for reporting efforts including requirements gathering, review, and approval of report specifications; quality assurance, distribution, and continuous improvement in response to customer feedback.
Produce and maintain documentation and contract templates for internal use, ensuring materials are accurate and effective
Organize, interpret, and use quantitative and qualitative data to identify customer requirements, determine commonalities and priorities
Collaborate across the Procurement Services organization to understand current services and capabilities; identify gaps and opportunities; develop recommendations, action plans, and solutions for campus needs
Use analytical and communication skills to focus efforts on improvements that have the greatest impact on campus
Track and manage projects and team tasks
Gather and analyze data and facilitate periodic assessments of the program's activities and processes
Required Qualifications
Five years of related work experience
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience in design and improvement of information flow and work processes
Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into understandable and compelling reports and presentations
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and levels of the organization
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills
Ability to work independently and assume a broad range of responsibilities
Strong organizational skills and a record of delivering timely results
Competence with presentation, spreadsheet, data analysis, and data management applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of procurement/ERP software (PeopleSoft, Jaggaer, or similar)
Demonstrated ability to complete projects and tasks with minimal oversight and direction
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to form close, amicable, trusting relationships across internal functions and across all levels within the university.
Work ScheduleThis is a full-time position; Monday through Friday.
