Angel Food Bakery + Coffee Bar is a sparkling St. Louis Park gem with fabulous donuts, breakfast pastries, cookies and cupcakes. Our growth has been amazing, and as we head into our super-busy season, we're on the lookout for a baker who wants to be a part of a business that even the Food Network and Martha Stewart Living have already noticed. Yup, our founder even tried to beat Bobby Flay (no luck there, but Katy got her mojo back when she took the top $10,000 prize at the Cooking Channel's National Donut Showdown).
We are a small collective of passionate people with a penchant for perfection and we’re looking to add another star to our hard-working but fun loving team. Our ideal match would be someone that is stoked on baking, but rather than being in a dingy back room hidden from the world, prefers to work in a lively "open kitchen" environment with awesome customers and happy, drama-free colleagues. PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE. You gotta have it. You gotta want more of it. Our customer base trusts us to be experts and put p-u-r-r-f-e-c-t-l-y baked goodies in their paws. Hey, that's not a typowe’re also ridiculous cat people, but sadly are forced to leave them at home while we work. That doesn’t stop us from dreaming about opening a Cat Cafe someday.
THE ABILITY TO WORK IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT SELF-SUFFICIENTLY. We all need to take on many tasks from start to finish. Seeing a production list through, knowing when to ask for help, and understanding the importance of multi-tasking (rather than staring at an oven while cookies bake) are very important attributes in our ideal hire.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF BAKING: We can always learn more, but do you know how to operate a 60-qt mixer? Do you know why it's critical to weigh ingredients vs eyeballing it? Do you "get" rotating stock? Being able to rock a recipe is very important. But if you don't, are you a quick learner?
PROFESSIONALISM: Leave the drama at home; we're professionals who bake. And laugh. We also have thick skin, because for all of us, there are days we ef up a recipe and have to do it again. Each bakery in the world has its own way of doing things, so we need you to accept professional criticism without taking it personally.
Us: "Hey, the salt seems to be missing from this batch.
You: "Argh! OK, got it!"

INTEGRITY AND MATURITY:
We need you here on time, every time. It sucks to have a production list and have someone consistently miss their scheduled hours. 'nuf said, righhhht? And won't it be lovely to work in a DRAMA FREE place?
SCHEDULE:
We’re looking for a FULL TIME rock star with 35-40 hours/week availability for this permanent, year round position. Hours are approx 5am to 1pm but if that doesn't work, let's talk. We do need you at least one weekend day, and will work together with you to come up with a flexible schedule that keeps everything humming smoothly while respecting your preferred days off.
