ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT: The Building Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of county-owned buildings. The department provides custodial services, grounds keeping, snow removal, and facility maintenance. Will also assist the Dawson County Cemetery Department in the daily cemetery operations, including cemetery turf management and beautification.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, one year experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Requires knowledge of use of standard tools such as hammer, screw driver and hand saw and equipment for maintenance and construction, mowers for lawn maintenance.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; effectively and appropriately communicate; understand and comply with laws, regulations, policy and directives interact effectively and appropriately with public and employees. Must maintain a valid Montana drivers license, or a valid commercial drivers license and other endorsements as mandated by law and/or policy. At times drive on developed roads, and occasionally on rough roads, at times during rainy and windy periods and on snow. Move objects, trim and mow lawns, remove weeds, keep parking lots clean, perform minor construction and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Lawn maintenance around County buildings and keep windows clean. Snow removal and sand to keep ice melted, removal of dirt and debris from sidewalks, steps, and parking area. Deliver cardboard and aluminum to recycling center. Painting inside/outside of county owned properties as directed by supervisor. Inside maintenance including mopping and vacuuming designated areas.
