Seeking bookkeeper for a growing 11-lawyer, 23-person firm. Firm requires a well-organized and detail oriented individual to perform the billing and accounting functions of the firm. Strong accounting skills and computer knowledge required plus at least two years’ experience in a law firm or another professional service firm environment.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Must have at least 2+ years’ experience as a full-charge bookkeeper/accountant with responsibilities including client billing in a law or professional service firm environment.
Must have successfully completed coursework in accounting. An associate degree in accounting is desirable.
Provide general management and oversight of the accounting systems
Experience with law firm billing or other professional service firm (PC Law, TABS or similar software) accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) as well as Microsoft Office Products.
Must possess strong administrative, communication and organizational skills.
Should offer a professional appearance and manner.
Duties may include but not be limited to
Perform all bookkeeping functions
Perform all functions related to entry of cash receipts, client costs, billing with accounting systems
Perform all functions related to cash receipts and disbursements for the IOLTA trust account
Reconcile bank statements
Work up and make bank deposits for the firm’s accounts
Handle payroll
Provide all required financial reports to firm administration on a monthly basis
Coordinate with the firms outside accountants
Provide general management and oversight of the accounting systems
Handle W-2 requests and 1099's at year end
Process Form 5500 on annual basis
Create firm budget on yearly basis
