Job Description:Our Jersey City, NJ, office is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer (RE) with experience in dams, reservoirs and geotechnical engineering to oversee the upgrade of a significant water supply storage reservoir located in southern Westchester County, New York. You will have a say in how our business operates and will benefit from our financial success.Job Responsibilities:The candidate will serve as Senior Resident Engineer for Schnabel’s Dams and Water Engineering Practice. Key responsibilities for the role include:
Effectively understand, engage and manage project issues and risks, participate in developing solutions, and to drive execution primarily at the RE/Contractor level in a manner that supports project team and overall goals.
Monitor and report on the Contractor’s construction progress and issues; assess and report on whether the Contractor is properly implementing their approved Construction Plans, and Quality Control Plan.
Responsible for overseeing the placement of civil works with a focus on geotechnical and dam engineering, dam safety, and ensuring that construction activities adhere to regulatory standards, specifications, and best practices in dam engineering.
Understand design intent and ensure that construction activities and any related testing required to confirm specification compliance are performed accurately and thoroughly.
Exercise stop work authority in the event of unforeseen or abnormal drilling, construction or site conditions during dam-related drilling and construction activities, ensuring safety and structure integrity.
Prepare field inspection reports and promptly advise the construction manager of any observed non-conforming work or deviations from specifications.
Ensure client satisfaction and build strong client relationships.
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Construction Management, with a concentration in geotechnical, foundation and structural engineering.
New York Professional Engineering (PE) Registration a plus.
Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience with heavy civil works infrastructure such as dams, water impounding structures, flood mitigation systems, deep foundations and earthworks.
Relevant experience with heavy construction projects and field investigations, instrumentation, analysis, and reporting for dams, foundations and/or water impounding structures.
Experience in using scheduling platforms and estimating.
Effective time management, written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, efficiently balance multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

The compensation range for this position is between $120,000 to $160,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
