Description Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Jersey City, New Jersey. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including processing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing journal entries. You will also play a crucial role in the month-end close process and will be expected to be proficient in several accounting software applications. There is some flexibility to work from home 1 day a week or when needed. Growth potential here! Solid benefits. Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of staff accountant experience.Responsibilities: Execute the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with finance policies and procedures Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the service team to ensure that revenues are recorded accurately and billed timely Conduct regular ledger activities to ensure accuracy and consistency of entries Handle bank reconciliations regularly and rectify discrepancies promptly Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions Assist in the month-end closing activities to ensure timely closure of accounting books Utilize accounting software platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP to streamline accounting processes and procedures Prepare and recommend policies and procedures that guide the selection, development, implementation and use of IT within the company.Requirements Must possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Hands-on experience with accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions). Familiarity with financial accounting statements. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process. Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management. Experience in performing bank reconciliations. Ability to prepare and record journal entries. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be eligible to work in the country of employment. Willingness to uphold company standards, policies, and procedures. Proven ability to meet deadlines.
