Summary Summary:The IT Transportation team seeks a highly skilled and motivated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Lead Systems Analyst/Programmer to help shape the future of transportation operations for the third largest public transportation provider in the US. The Lead Systems Analyst/Programmer is responsible for supporting the integrated SmartBus hardware and software systems for all Operations Control Center technology, Computer Aided Dispatch, Yard Management, Automated rolling stock Maintenance and Operations reporting. The role is responsible for 24x7 support of critical SmartBus systems for both internal and public customers. The position is also responsible for performing validation plans, testing and application upgrades. Understanding the system and sub-system specifications, communicating effectively with software design and validation teams to improve overall system performance is essential to this role. The position participates in design review, vendor management, service planning and change control. Communication with stakeholders regarding design definition, service levels and the creation of system test plans based on specifications are responsibilities handled by this role. Roles and Responsibilities· Leads the development, QA, testing, and implementation of new computer systems and telematic improvements. · Analyzes end users’ business needs, evaluates scope for automation of manual process and/or enhances existing automated system through modification or replacement. · Maintains existing systems by problem resolution and minor modifications to systems. · Researches and develops new methods, techniques to improve system speed, increase program productivity, and reduce costs. · Maintains technical knowledge across a variety of hardware/software disciplines and leads others in applying these technologies. · Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge of a variety of NJ Transit information systems. · Works with both internal customers and vendors to ensure successful bench testing, QA and change control implementations. · Lead projects through full lifecycle implementation, software development, and infrastructure development using project management with methodologies and industry best practices. · Develops and communicates project plans, schedules, costs, and metrics. · Creates reports and ETL workflows based on internal customer needs and specifications Supervision Given to N/A Education, Experience and Qualifications:· Associates Degree in Computer Science or related area, from a US Department of Education accredited college or university, and five (5) or more years of experience in system development and design. · Degree may be substituted by 2 years of related experience in system development and design. · Must be self-motivated, able to work independently in a team environment to manage multiple project tasks and timelines to successful completion. · Strong operational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to think critically and problem solve. · Ability to work on numerous projects concurrently. · Possess strong knowledge of data integration for application deployment and demonstrated ability to lead through the creation of innovative strategies, methods, and approaches. Knowledge and Skills:· Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Project or Jira preferred. · Experienced with Relational Databases with Oracle SQL or Microsoft SQL Server. Knowledge of relational database design preferred. · Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting OS, software distribution, and addressing client software issues in a corporate environment required. · Experience with data analytics/telematics and reporting software such as Power BI or YellowFin · Ability to develop analytical custom scripts for data analysis and ETLs using tools such Powershell, VB Script, Oracle SQLLDR, BCP · Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic.Net desired. · Experience with VMWare, MS and AWS Cloud server technology is desired. Essential: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies and methodologies. Have experience in working with contract vendors including review of contract specifications, design proposal, project schedules and budgets desired.
