Posting Summary Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) seeks a passionate and committed Research Support Associate for its Biomaterials Research Lab (BRL) in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, led by Dr. MA Saghiri, PhD. BRL is a leader in dental research, focusing on dentin structure, the impact of systemic diseases like diabetes on dentin quality, and the development of innovative, expandable biomaterials to restore dentin. The RSA will play a key role in research projects, from planning to execution, including data collection, analysis, and sharing results. This role also involves mentoring and teaching, contributing to the education of future dental professionals. Candidates should have a strong interest in dental science and biomaterials research, with a dedication to research excellence and education. This position offers a collaborative environment to contribute to advancing dental medicine and patient care.Among the key duties of this position are the following:Research Design and Execution:Collaborate with lab director and team members to design research protocols and experiments focused on understanding the structure of dentin, effects of systemic diseases on dentin quality, and the development of innovative biomaterials.Execute detailed experimental procedures with precision, maintaining high standards of scientific rigor and data integrity.Data Analysis and Management:Perform comprehensive data analysis using appropriate statistical and computational tools to interpret results from experiments.Maintain accurate and organized records of research data, ensuring accessibility for further analysis and review.Grant and Manuscript Preparation:Assist in drafting grant proposals, including developing research objectives, methodologies, and budgets to secure funding for future projects.Contribute to the writing and editing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, ensuring clarity, coherence, and compliance with journal guidelines.Laboratory Operations and Compliance:Support the maintenance of laboratory equipment and the ordering of supplies to ensure the smooth operation of research activities.Adhere to all safety and compliance protocols, including ethical guidelines for research involving human or animal subjects.Collaboration and Communication:Engage in collaborative research efforts within and outside the department, contributing to interdisciplinary projects and knowledge exchange.Communicate effectively with lab members, faculty, and external partners to facilitate progress on research objectives and dissemination of findings.Professional Development Stay updated on the latest research and developments in dental biomaterials and related fields through literature review, workshops, and conferences. Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree or a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field of study. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to, Dental Sciences, Biomaterials, Dental materials, Computer Engineering, Material Science.A minimum of 3 years of related research experience post-graduation. This experience should demonstrate a solid foundation in experimental design, data collection, and analysis within the context of dental sciences or closely related fields.Experience in managing and conducting research projects, including familiarity with laboratory procedures, data analysis software, and research methodologies pertinent to the field of dental biomaterials or similar areas.A track record of contributing to the scientific community, evidenced by at least 3 publications in peer-reviewed journals. These publications should ideally be related to dental science, biomaterials research, or other relevant fields, showcasing the candidate's ability to conduct meaningful research and disseminate findings effectively.
