Duties Description The New York State Senate Journal Clerk’s Office is seeking an energetic team- and detail-oriented individual to fill a vacancy. The Journal Clerk’s Office supports the day-to-day legislative activities of Senators and staff, and is responsible for maintaining the official record of the Senate’s activities, including member attendance, bill actions, voting records, motions, resolutions, and nominations. The Calendar Operations Clerk is responsible for preparing and printing the daily session calendar, weekly committee agendas, and the annual Senate Journal. The Calendar Operations Clerk also works on the Senate chamber desk during Senate sessions.While the position is largely Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00PM, some evening and weekend hours will be required when the Senate is in session. Specific responsibilities for Calendar Operations clerks include: Preparing and handling bill jacketsCreating and printing the Senate CalendarPreparing and printing Senate committee agendasPrinting and preparing engrossed resolutions Preparing and proof-reading the Senate JournalOrganizing and filing legislative documentsStaffing the Senate Desk during Senate sessionsInteracting with Senators’ offices when neededWorking with other Senate staff Additional Comments This is a full-time position with a salary range of $35,000 to $40,000, commensurate with education and experience.
